People ask because of how Oscar Jeans has always been sold. It was never a mall brand and never bought a billboard. It reached people through wholesale, by the case, to independent clothing stores, workwear shops and family retailers, the kind of places where the owner is at the register. Plenty of people have worn Oscar Jeans for years and know them only by the label and the style number they ask for at the counter: "two pair of the 999s, 34 by 32."
The company behind the label
Upfit Allwear brings together 48 years in the wholesale clothing business. Alongside Oscar Jeans we own Maxxsel Apparel, which covers fleece, outerwear and basics, and Oscar Sports, which makes polos. The stores we have supplied for decades can still order the same way they always have. What is new is that you can now buy the same jeans here, directly.
How an Oscar jean is built
The flagship is the CA999, a regular-fit five-pocket jean that sits at the waist and runs straight through the leg. The specification is short and has not changed much, which is how we like it.
14.5 oz cotton denim. Many jeans sold today are in the 10 to 12 oz range, often with stretch blended in. Heavier cloth takes longer to wear through.
Bar tacks at every stress point. Pocket corners, belt loops and the base of the fly get a dense reinforcing stitch, because those are the places where jeans fail first.
Brass shank hardware and gold-lock topstitching, with a zip fly.
A size run meant for real people. Waists from 28 up to 54 in some finishes, inseams from 28 to 34.
